Being a full-time student and a full-time photographer can be challenging. Trying to manage both can be overwhelming, but with the right strategies in place, you can make it work! Read on to learn how you can successfully juggle your studies and photography responsibilities at the same time.
Time Management
The key to managing both a full-time student life and a photography career is effective time management. Make sure that you are setting aside enough time for each aspect of your life so that one does not suffer over the other. Developing a schedule can help you keep track of deadlines, meetings, classes, etc. A good rule of thumb is to create an hourly schedule that includes all of your major tasks for the day and stick to it as much as possible.
Organization & Prioritization
Organization is essential when trying to balance both school and photography work. Create an organized filing system where you store all of your important documents—from contracts, invoices, notes from sessions or meetings—so that they are easily accessible when needed. This will also help you prioritize tasks since you will have everything listed out in front of you. You will be able to decide which tasks need immediate attention and which ones can wait until later on in the week or month.
Rely On Resources & Support Systems
You don’t have to do this alone! Utilize resources such as online courses or attend workshops related to photography or business topics if there isn’t enough time in the day for studying those topics on your own. Additionally, build relationships with other photographers who might be able to lend advice or offer support when needed (especially if they have gone through what you are currently experiencing). Having people around who understand what it’s like being a full-time student/photographer will go a long way towards making this journey easier!
It is possible to balance being a full-time student and a full-time photographer! With proper time management, organization, prioritization, relying on resources and support systems – your success is inevitable! Don’t forget that taking care of yourself should always come first; take breaks when necessary and don’t forget about self care activities like yoga or meditation. Good luck! You’ve got this!
